As you pull into Methven Mt Hutt Village and stand at the cross roads of the two main streets (one fittingly named Main Street!) you'll see two pubs on opposite corners. One of them is Blue, one of them is Brown. Ours is the Brown one.

The catch phrase "your true country pub" is very apt as this is indeed a classic New Zealand country pub. Warm in atmosphere and welcome, you will feel right at home from the minute you walk in the door.

The Brown Pub is located right in the middle of town and offers the Main Bar, the Fireside Bar, a family restaurant, fresh, clean affordable accommodation and naturally a great time. We are also very proud to be awarded the Lion Breweries Beer Master award for demonstrating excellence in beer quality and presentation - two years running. So you know the beer is going to be good.

Our accommodation is backpacker style with shared bathroom facilities and a communal lounge and kitchette. As we host Karaoke some Friday nights in the Main Bar downstairs and this is a rip roaring night if you are keen to party, if you are more interested in a quiet night of eyeball cleaning, it may pay to check our events page prior to booking your accommodation. Alternatively let us know if you are keen on a quieter room and we will try to accommodate you.
